Cash settlement on rape and murder of teenage Christian girl is black spot on Pakistani government
Karachi: October 21, 2010. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC said that acceptance of outside court cash-settlement on heinous crimes of rape and murder of 12 years old Christian girl Lubna Masih by her poor parents indicates their no-confidence in Judiciary and administration of Pakistan.
Lubna Masih was kidnapped on September 27, 2009, by five Muslims who gang raped and murdered her in city of Rawalpindi which is known as Twin Capital city of Islamabad.
The Pakistan Muslim League (N) leaders in city of Rawalpindi were putting pressure on Saleem Masih, father of victim to settle the case outside court from months.
Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz Group) is governing Punjab province of Pakistan and holds control of city of Rawalpindi administration.
“We are sad and have concern on this outside court cash settlement in Lubna Masih case which were mediated on 20% commission in one million rupees settlement on behalf of Federal Minority Ministry of Pakistan like cases of Christian house-maid Shazia murder case and student nurse of JPMC Magdalene rape case where cash compensations were paid directly by Federal Minority Minister to close the cases” said Nazir Bhatti
Dr. Nazir Bhatti added “We want justice not cash compensations” that is why we always demanded intervention of Higher Courts to ensure justice but Supreme Court of Pakistan or High Courts never paid any attention on our appeals.
The poor victims of persecution have no approach to high ups in Pakistani government while Muslims accused in rape, gang rape, enforced conversion of Christian women approach their uncles, brothers and relatives in National Assembly, Senate of Pakistan, Provincial Assemblies, Police and Bureaucracy to walk free.
“It is shameful for our so-called leaders in parliament that their community women are raped and murdered by influential Muslims who later fix prices to safe from law and use government machinery to pressure poor parents of Christian victims” added Bhatti
Nazir Bhatti said “I can understand situation of Saleem Masih, who is accepting this cash settlement under fear of his family’s life and threats of influential Muslims but where are custodians of law?”
“I appeal to Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan to take Suo-Motto notice of Lubna Masih rape-murder case outside court cash-settlement to ensure justice ” said Nazir Bhatti
